The Dairy at Streat Place Barn offers charming self catering accommodation in the village of Streat. Our former working dairy and hand-built shepherd’s hut have been finished to a high standard to suit all your needs. We are close to Ditchling and perfect for a relaxing break in East Sussex.

The Dairy

Our ground-level property sleeps 1 – 2 guests but can accommodate 1 or 2 extra on the sofa bed in the living room. There is an open plan area including a kitchen/dining area and sitting room. The kitchen is well-equipped with a range of appliances including an electric oven and hob, a fridge with a small freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine and integrated dryer, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster. The sitting area has a wall-mounted TV and DVD player.

A double bedroom comes with a king-size bed and there is a bathroom with a shower over bath. Extra blankets and a hair dryer are provided.

Outside we have a private, walled garden to relax in whilst savouring views of the South Downs.

We are ideally placed for exploring the South Downs National Park, perfect for walkers. You can also visit the villages of Ditchling, Plumpton and East Chiltington. 3 gastro pubs are within walking distance, including The Jolly Sportsman, The Bull and The Half Moon. Attractions to visit include:

Glyndebourne Opera.

Lewes Castle.

Wolstonbury Vineyard.

Longman Brewery.

Monk’s House.

The Shepherd’s Hut

We also offer accommodation for up to 2 people in the shepherd’s hut. The hut offers basic cooking facilities and a 4ft double bed which is reached by a short wooden ladder. If requested, an extra single mattress under the bed can be provided. There is an indoor shower room, basin and loo. The hut can be booked together with The Dairy to include shared use of their kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Outside we have a small enclosed garden to unwind in the afternoon sun.
