Merrieweathers Country Estate is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Sussex/Kent border. Accommodating up to 16 guests, it’s perfect for large groups looking to enjoy weekend breaks, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events, or special occasions such as Christmas, New Year's Eve and summer holidays. Set within 50 acres of stunning gardens, fields, woodlands and lakes, Merrieweathers offers a countryside retreat that will leave a lasting impression.

The Stables

Enter through a charming oak door into a bright, high-ceilinged entrance hall filled with natural light from skylights. The 50-foot-long Great Hall, featuring oak beams, a chestnut floor and Victorian-style chandeliers, is divided into dining, sitting and entertainment areas. The long dining table can seat 16. French doors open to two courtyards, adding to the versatility of this luxurious space, complete with a drinks cabinet, plush sofas, a piano and a descending cinema screen. The spacious kitchen includes an AGA (winter only), electric ovens, induction hobs, a microwave, dishwasher and an American fridge with ice maker. The adjoining dining area seats eight around a large oak breakfast table. The sitting room, featuring a 65-inch TV and open hearth, opens onto the courtyard for evening barbecues. There are four bedrooms in total. two are on the ground floor:

- Orchid Suite: A serene, Japanese-inspired room with a ziplinked superking bed, wooden floors, underfloor heating and an en-suite featuring a jacuzzi, walk-in shower, twin basins and a marbled statement wall.

- Delphinium Suite: A high-ceilinged room with fairy-tale lighting, a double bed and an en-suite with a walk-in marble shower, basin, WC and underfloor heating.

- Cornflower Suite: A sea-themed room with a ziplinked superking bed, single bed and an en-suite with a boat tub, walk-in shower and porthole lighting.

- French Rose Suite: A luxurious room with a superking bed, two singles and an en-suite with a roll-top bath, walk-in shower and antique washstand.

The Hayloft

The Hayloft is a detached property across from the Stables, offering privacy for guests. It features a spacious, bright living/dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, two en-suite bedrooms, a separate shower room and an open-plan mezzanine level sleeping four. Accessed via an internal staircase, the first floor boasts a 32-foot open-plan space with sofas, a TV and a large oak dining table, illuminated by full-height windows overlooking the estate. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, kettle, and toaster. The mezzanine, linked by a chestnut wood bridge, offers two open sleeping areas with privacy screens. Note, these areas are open-plan and not ideal for young children. There are two suites available:

- Badger Suite: Four-poster double bed, bedside tables, wardrobe and en-suite with WC, basin and shower.

- Pheasant Suite: Walnut and maple bed plus a single, dressing table, wardrobe and en-suite with marble-walled wet room, WC and double basins.

The Cock and Bull: Merrieweather’s private pub!

The games barn at Merrieweathers, just 75 yards from the Stables and Hayloft, offers endless entertainment. Inside is a charming replica of a traditional English pub, complete with a pool table, table football, darts, a cinema screen and a log burner. You can even order a cask of local beer and use the beer pumps to serve Sussex ale, or enjoy a gin and tonic from the in-house optics. Whether you're enjoying drinks or playing games, this private pub is the perfect spot for fun all day and into the night.

Other Facilities Onsite

Prepare your evening meal outdoors beneath the clear blue skies at our Stables kitchen. Whether you're grilling local butcher's meat or food from home, the brick-built charcoal barbecue is perfect for gathering on a warm summer day. The space includes everything you need, along with a gas barbecue for vegetarian cooking, a sink, granite work surfaces and elegant teak furniture and loungers for relaxed dining.

From April - October, guests can enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool for a refreshing swim. Take a dip in the warm, clear blue water and spend a relaxing summer afternoon unwinding. Whether you're swimming a few lengths or floating on a lilo, it's the perfect way to escape everyday stress while watching the sun move across a cloudless sky. Located just 75 yards from the manor house, the pool is exclusively available to Stables and Hayloft guests between 9 am and 6 pm.

Outdoor draughts and table tennis are available at the front of the property. You can also enjoy exclusive access to the estate's tennis court, with racquets and balls provided for a friendly game or two with friends. Take a stroll through the charming and secluded kitchen garden, where you can wander among the vegetables and flowers. You can also gather fresh eggs from the chicken coop near the greenhouse.

Near the Stables and Hayloft, you'll find a beautiful natural lake stocked with trout, carp, and coarse fish. It's the perfect spot for a picnic under the shade of a nearby oak tree. If you have any fishing enthusiasts in your group, bring along your rod and bait for a friendly competition to see who can catch the biggest fish, just remember to release them back into the water!

Visiting the Area

One of the greatest perks of visiting this area is the abundance of public footpaths and beautiful woodland walks. The Stables opens directly onto miles of trails, offering a perfect way to spend the day surrounded by natural beauty, from sunlit streams to the stunning iridescent bluebells that bloom in the spring. There is so much to see and do in the area, including:
