Shell Island Camp Site offers excellent camping facilities close to the village of Llanbedr in Gwynedd. The campsite boasts stunning views of the unspoilt Welsh countryside, including Cardigan Bay and the Snowdonia National Park.

There are some 300 acres of land allocated to camping, making us one of the largest in Europe. We do not allocate pitches so you can therefore find your ideal pitch yourself. Unfortunately, we only have a camping license and therefore cannot accept caravans.

On arrival to Shell Island Camp Site campers must call in at the reception office to check-in. On arrival, you will receive a car pass and an information pack. Campers may not pitch within 15 meters of another tent in the same field unless prior agreement is reached with adjoining campers. Campers are not allowed fires on the ground on any part of the site/ and dunes. Fires must be raised off the ground in a fire bin or a BBQ with an air gap in between. With the site being so big we have many water points, lots of fire extinguisher points and over 4 miles of roads and tracks across the Island.

On the island, you can stay enjoy a touch of luxury by staying in one of the chalets or flats. The chalets both offer outstanding views, overlooking either the estuary or beach. Each chalet comes with comfy bedrooms, modern bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, cosy living area and a decking area to savour the views from.

Onsite we have a newly refurbished shower block directly behind the main toilets. All the showers are spacious and include a changing area and a seat. The ladies shower has a large make-up/hair room with separate mirrors and plugs, whilst 3 newly installed hair showers are in both the ladies and men’s showers. Additionally, a disabled shower and toilet room is available and further small toilets blocks are spread around the site. The flats are also well-equipped and available for letting throughout the year.

The laundrette is next to the supermarket, offering three dryers and three washing machines. One washing machine is capable of boil washing. The washing machines are coin-operated. We also have a games room, perfect for children to enjoy! Our on-site camp shop is great for buying essentials and we have a delightful gift shop, offering lovely mementos from your trip. If you’re feeling peckish, head to our snack bar for a brilliant range of freshly prepared meals.

With stunning scenery all around and a variety of top tourist attractions close by you will always find something to pass the time. The Shell Islands Restaurant is great for savouring some tasty food and offers a renowned Sunday lunch. Afterward, head to the Tavern Bar for a real ale or refreshing lager.
