Brilley Cabins

Brilley, Whitney On Wye, Herefordshire
Sleeps: 1 to 2

Details

Brilley Cabins offers three self-catering hideaways situated in a peaceful orchard, each one screened for privacy and blessed with sweeping views across the Wye Valley to the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons National Park). Just ten minutes from the book-town of Hay-on-Wye, these cabins provide an idyllic base for couples craving quiet, dark skies and uninterrupted countryside.

Designed exclusively for two, every cabin is fully self-contained with a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy open-plan living area and a king-size bed that rests behind floor-to-ceiling shelving with generous hanging space. Linen upholstery, warm wool blankets and a wood-burning stove create a welcoming retreat, while the en-suite bathroom adds a touch of indulgence with its enclosed rainfall shower and heated towel rail. Each veranda invites slow breakfasts with birdsong, leisurely afternoons scanning the hills and evenings spent cooking over the firepit beneath star-strewn skies, soothed by the distant hoot of tawny owls.

Russet is the cabin closest to our hearts, warmed by a wood burner and framed by picture windows facing the panoramic horizon; its secluded deck holds a deep, bubbling hot tub for starlit soaks. Pax mirrors these comforts with its own picture windows, rainfall shower, firepit and hand-built seating, perfect for sharing a favourite tipple in the steaming water. Old Fred boasts the largest windows of all, adding extra living space and the same private decking, hot tub and firepit that make al-fresco evenings here unforgettable.

From the orchard you can wander along woodland trails to the Brilley Dingle nature reserve, tackle a stretch of the 150-mile Herefordshire Way that passes our lane or stroll down to the River Wye for wild-swimming spots and canoe launch points near Whitney Toll Bridge. Two traditional pubs lie within walking distance, though the return climb rewards you with an even broader view of Hay Bluff and Pen y Fan glowing in the sunset. Whether you choose to explore or simply settle into the steaming hot tub with the valley unfolding before you, Brilley Cabins promises restorative seclusion and the ever-changing beauty of border country.
