Balnagore Moss Estate offer secluded holiday cottages just outside of Machrie on the Isle of Arran, Scotland. They are ideal for getting away, offering stunning landscapes for hill walking, wild life, bird watching, fishing, golf and riding. Add to that amazing sunsets, sea and hill views as well as the Standing Stones on Machrie Moor and Brodick Castle providing some intriguing local history.

Balnagore:

The spacious main sitting room has an open fire with the unusual feature of a west facing picture window above it. This view looks over the Kilbrannan Sound towards Kintyre, affording wonderful views of Machrie’s stunning sunsets. A flat screen TV with Sky Freeview is provided, as well as a DVD player.

At the opposite end of the sitting room is the dining area, which leads into the kitchen. The fully fitted kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and Belling food warmer. A coffee maker, cafetiere, slow cooker and food processor are also provided. Off the kitchen is the scullery, with a washing machine, tumble drier, fridge, chest freezer and iron; and also cloakroom and shower facilities. Beyond the kitchen is a smaller, second sitting room, also with an open fire. The pay telephone is located here.

Balnagore has 3 double, 2 twin and 1 single bedrooms sleeping up to 11 people. The ground floor master bedroom has a king sized bed and an open fire with double aspect windows providing views of the garden and the hills to the north. There is a bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom. Upstairs, the main farmhouse comprises a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single room with a 2’ 6” bed. There is a bathroom with a hand held shower attachment over the bath. Above the main sitting room there is another twin bedroom and a dormitory room containing a double and two single beds. There is no loo or hand basin upstairs in this part of the house.

Rowanbank:

The property has recently been renovated to very high standard. Set in the rural west coast of the island it has superb countryside views and is only 2 miles to the nearest 9 hole golf course. Entry is via a south facing porch which is large enough to seat four people and double aspect windows throughout flood Rowanbank with light. The spacious dining room also has an open fire and the pay telephone is here. Off the hall to the left is the utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier and iron.

To the right is a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom. There is a handheld shower attachment over the bath. Down the hall is a second twin bedroom (this can become a double bed on request) that leads into a dressing room and en suite bathroom with a separate walk in shower. The dressing room has a 2’ 6” bed and a walk in cupboard.

The large sitting room has a high vaulted ceiling and an open fire. A flat screen TV with Sky Freeview and DVD player are provided. One of the sofas can be converted into a double bed. he fully fitted kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and cafetiere.

Cairnfield:

Cairnfield is a former farm house built in the late 1870's and extended in the 1920s. The approach is down an attractive farm lane which leads into the old farmyard with plenty of parking space.

The large main sitting room has an open fire and triple aspect windows facing east, north and west. The bow window with window seat looks out west over the sea towards Kintyre, the perfect spot to watch Machrie’s magnificent sunsets. Next door is a smaller sitting room with a flat screen TV, Sky Freeview and a DVD player. The spacious dining room has an open fire and a serving hatch through to the kitchen.

The fully fitted oak kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and Belling food warmer. A coffee maker, cafetiere and food processor are also provided. The pay telephone is here. Off the kitchen is the utility area, with washing machine, tumble drier, fridge/freezer, chest freezer and iron. Here there is also a cloakroom and shower room. The front porch has facilities for drying wet coats and shoes.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, two twin rooms and two single rooms, one with a 2’ 6” bed. There are two more bathrooms upstairs and the master en suite and third bathroom both have hand held shower attachments over the baths.

All three well appointed properties are situated on the undisturbed west coast of Arran in the hamlet of Machrie, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a haven for wildlife. Each house affords stunning views of the surrounding countryside; a mixture of sea, moorland and hills, with the famous Goat Fell peak in the distance. Less than a mile away is the Machriewater river for fishing, Machrie’s 9 hole golf course, tea room, tennis court and children’s play area. There is access here to the unspoilt seashore. Two miles to the north is The Old Byre sheepskin shop and restaurant.
