The Braemar

Shanklin, Isle of Wight

Details

Situated in the heart of Shanklin's picturesque Old Village, often regarded as the Isle of Wight's most charming corner, lies The Braemar, a family-run Bed and Breakfast. Ideally situated, we provide the perfect base for exploring the island, whether you prefer walking, cycling, sightseeing by car, or taking advantage of the Island's excellent transport system. At The Braemar, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, home-from-home atmosphere, ensuring your holiday is as relaxing and stress-free as possible.

Our nine well-appointed bedrooms are all en-suite and thoughtfully designed to offer a cosy and tranquil retreat after a day of adventure. We cater to various needs with a range of room options, including single, double, twin, triple and family rooms. For added convenience, a ground-floor room is available upon request at the time of booking.

Each room features a TV, free Wi-Fi, a hairdryer and a generously stocked hospitality tray. Ironing facilities are also available on request.

Start your day with our delicious breakfast menu, which includes classic options like a hearty full English alongside lighter choices such as cereals, toast and preserves. We are happy to accommodate special dietary requirements, just let us know when booking.

Our comfortable lounge is the perfect place to unwind, complete with a pool table, a TV area and plush sofas. Sunseekers will love our wraparound sun deck, accessible from most first-floor rooms and the main corridor.

Parking is conveniently located at the rear of the building, with space for 6–8 cars. Additional public parking is nearby and we offer secure, secluded cycle parking. Motorcyclists are also welcome, with parking out of sight from the road.

Situated in Shanklin Old Village, The Braemar is surrounded by quaint thatched cottages, charming shops and excellent pubs and restaurants. A highlight of the area is Shanklin Chine, a stunning gorge that leads through a lush valley to the sea. We are just a short walk from the town centre, which offers a mix of unique independent shops and essential larger stores. During the summer months, a train runs from the end of the road to the seafront esplanade or the town centre. Additionally, the cliff lift, located a short stroll from The Braemar, provides a scenic and convenient way to reach the seafront (operational in summer for a small fee).

We welcome well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs in our pet-friendly rooms only. We allow one dog per room and we kindly ask that you discuss this with us prior to booking. A fee of £20.00 per dog per visit applies. Please note that additional charges may be incurred if extra cleaning is required upon checkout.
