When the Coach House was converted into a self-catering cottage, only the exterior walls of the old granite building could be retained. Now, fully insulated and centrally heated, the Coach House combines modern living with the charm of a traditional structure. Located in the expansive grounds and gardens of Ardfenaig House, it offers views of a pond and Loch Caol, extending to the village of Bunessan and the mountains of Glen More. A burn runs alongside the property, and a gate opens to the Ross of Mull's open spaces, featuring hills, heather, sea, and sand. Abundant wildlife, including red deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, and a variety of birds, can be observed from the cottage and the surrounding five acres of lawn on the loch's shore.

Inside, a large vestibule leads to a spacious open-plan ground floor. A cosy living area with SKY television, a DVD player and a large picture window occupies one end, while the dining area, kitchen and shower room occupy the other. Upstairs, there are two twin bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, each spacious enough to accommodate a comfortable folding bed. All bed, bath and table linens are provided.

This idyllic location might make you reluctant to explore the rest of Mull and Iona. However, a left turn from the entrance drive to the main road takes you to Bunessan, with its shops, pub, and restaurant. Beyond the village lies the entire island of Mull, with numerous walking trails through moor and mountain, fields of wildflowers, and high cliffs overlooking solitary beaches. You can also drive through friendly villages, tour castles, discover standing stones and stone circles, and stroll along the colourful main street by the harbor in Tobermory, the capital of Mull.

The Coach House at Ardfenaig invites guests to savour the fresh air, clear light and the relaxed, peaceful atmosphere of a bygone era, far removed from the noise, busyness, crowds and traffic of modern life.
