Bradmoor Woods
Details
Bradmoor Woods is a unique retreat designed for groups of family and friends to come together and reconnect with nature. Whether you're celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, running yoga sessions, hosting forest schools, bushcraft events, summer camps, or simply seeking an escape from the noise of modern life, this is a place that offers space, tranquility and adventure without crowding. The woodland setting is vast and the whole site is exclusively yours, ensuring that while many can gather (up to 35 people), there’s still the luxury of personal space.
Situated just a short drive from the lively market town of Swaffham and around two and a half hours from Central London, Bradmoor Woods is an imaginative haven built to inspire exploration and play. The site is dotted with unusual and creative camping structures that bring you close to nature. Guests can choose to stay in quirky spaces such as Bird Houses, Silos, converted Railway Carriages, a Dorm Teepee, or even Zenia, an upturned boat hidden deep in a glade.
Each structure has its own story and charm. The Bird Houses, designed in a simple A-frame style, are nestled behind the Meeting House and offer peaceful, low-impact accommodation with wooden roofs and canvas sides that keep the interiors cool and light in summer. The Railway Carriages are full of character and history, dating back over a century and beautifully restored with wood paneling, large windows and cosy French enamel stoves. The Silos, once grain stores, have been transformed into spacious, insulated woodland lodgings that resemble oversized yurts, perfect for families, with ample room to spread out, play games, or ride out a rainy day in warmth and comfort.
Zenia is a favourite among visitors. Created from a reclaimed boat hull salvaged from Blakeney, this enchanting hideaway sleeps four and features bunk-style beds accessed via ladders, a French stove, a table and vintage theatre seating, all under a curved wooden roof that sparks the imagination. For larger groups, the Dorm Teepee provides warm, communal accommodation with beds for eight and a central wood-burning stove. A second teepee serves as a common room, ideal for socialising on cool or damp evenings.
At the heart of Bradmoor Woods is the Round House, a large open space made entirely from timber sourced within the woodland itself. Built using the ancient Mandala-style reciprocal frame technique, the Round House functions as the main social hub. It houses the camp kitchen and invites guests to relax, play, cook, or even get wildly creative, be it through charades, dancing, or full-blown reenactments involving kids and condiment bottles. Solar lighting keeps it glowing into the night and it’s the perfect spot to share stories and meals. We also provide a pizza oven with logs and a bbq/firepit with charcoal is also provided.
One of the most curious sights in the woods is Valkyrie, a classic Norfolk Broads cruiser set down among the trees. Though no longer used for sleeping, it remains a favourite play area for children and a surreal visual treat for walkers. Appearing unexpectedly in the forest, the boat adds an element of fantasy to the already imaginative landscape.
Essential facilities are just as thoughtfully crafted. The shower and loo block is built carousel-style using a mix of reclaimed doors, housing four power showers and four flushable toilets. Powered by solar energy and supplied with water from a purpose-drilled borehole, it’s an eco-conscious yet comfortable space that proves wilderness living doesn’t mean going without proper washrooms.
Days at Bradmoor Woods can be filled with activity or peaceful retreat. Guests can walk through the trees, climb, build dens, sit around the fire, ride bikes, stargaze, or simply watch the animals that inhabit the area including sheep, pigs, pheasants and a wealth of birds. Bradmoor is wild, creative and free-spirited, a refuge from the ordinary and a playground for the soul.
There is plenty to see and do in the area as well, including:
Watatunga Wildlife Reserve.
Castle Rising.
Trues Yard Museum.
Snettisham Beach.
Norfolk Lavender.
To help protect the environment and keep Bradmoor Woods clean and sustainable, we ask all guests to follow our minimal waste policy. We no longer allow supermarket deliveries, as they often bring unnecessary packaging and excess food waste. Instead, we encourage you to bring what you need with you or shop at nearby local businesses, many of which offer delivery to the site and appreciate your support. Our tap water is fresh and fully drinkable, so there’s no need to bring bottled water. By keeping things simple and mindful, we can all enjoy a cleaner, greener woodland experience.
