Ware Hall House

The Butlands, Wells-Next-The-Sea

Details

Warehall House has a great hall that is the largest room in Warehall and reaches up two floors of the house. All meals are served in the main hall and the large open fire is often lit in winter time although there is full central heating.

Warehall House was originally built in about 1450 for a wealthy Hertfordshire monk. The house retains the gallery that circles the house and joins the west end first floor bedrooms with the east end rooms. The house has been rebuilt 100 miles from its original position, but the main construction and charm have been maintained - and extra windows have been sympathetically inserted to increase the natural light.

The recent history of Warehall is intriguing: The House is called Ware Hall as it was originally built in Ware Hertfordshire and stood there in the centre of the town for nearly 6 centuries. Its position came under threat from the local council who threatened demolition in 1965 as it was then deemed to be impending progress by delaying the building of a central roundabout in Ware.

Sleeps 6 in 2 doubles ensuite and 1 double/twin.
