The Old Windmill in Aylsham, Norfolk was built in 1826 and was a working flour mill for almost 100 years. Derelict for more than 80 years, it has now been converted into luxurious self catering accommodation for 6 people. The accommodation is on 4 floors linked by normal domestic stairs.

The ground floor has an entrance hall leading to utility room with sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. It also has a separate cloak room.

The 1st floor has a beamed open plan living area with fully fitted kitchen. The lounge has 2 sofas, armchair and a bean bag, dining table and 6 chairs, TV with digital Freeview, DVD/VCR player, radio/CD/tape player, hearth with wood burner effect gas fire. A fully equipped kitchen, with fridge, dishwasher, microwave oven and gas cooker.

Our 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 double 1 twin sharing a dual en suite shower room.

The 3rd floor has a double bedroom with king size bed featuring en suite bath and shower room.

We have full gas central heating. A private walled patio garden with garden furniture and gas barbeque.

The mill is situated on the outskirts of the historic market town of Aylsham. The town is the centre of a rural community of scattered farms and villages set in beautiful rolling countryside. Being only 10 miles from the city of Norwich, Wroxham, the Broads and the coast at Cromer, it is the ideal base from which to explore North Norfolk, Broadland and the miles of beautiful sandy beaches.

Aylsham is home is home to the Bure Valley steam railway which runs 10 miles to Wroxham, and is close to several fine National Trust houses. There are good shopping facilities in Aylsham, also pubs, restaurants and take aways. The nearest pub is a 7 minute walk away.

The mill is only 100 yds from Marriotts way cycle trail and the network of footpaths which are linked to it. There are numerous Nature Reserves in North Norfolk which are a haven for birdwatchers.

We have stayed many times at the windmill Janet and Tim are great hosts the windmill is spotlessly clean and well maintained you don’t want for anything the location is great for biking walking and close to Aylsham town which has all the shops you need we will definitely be booking again. A brilliant stay at a wonderful windmill. From the wonderful welcome to the fantastic accommodation Aylsham mill has everything you need for a fantastic week exploring Norfolk. A fantastic return visit. This was our second visit to the windmill. It is a lovely property and very fairly priced. It's great staying somewhere a bit different. The location is great, both for the coast and the broads, we love the little bure valley railway that starts in aylsham. Tim and Janet are lovely too, nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back! Louise.

Had an amazing time it was for a big birthday which made it magical. This was our second visit. The location is perfect you can reach all the surrounding areas and beaches no problem there are bus services available to most place's and the town has plenty to offer for local shops. Kathy.
