Poppy Cottages are a pair of holiday homes near Skipton, North Yorkshire. Our cottages can be found in the small village of Carleton-in-Craven, which is only 2 miles from the bustling market town of Skipton. We are an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.
Poppy Cottage No 1: A stylish holiday home sleeping 2, that includes its own fabulous hot tub. The house is built from Yorkshire stone, to create an extension to the original barn that is now Poppy Cottage 2. It has an open plan living space on the ground floor that includes lounge area, dining area and fully fitted kitchen. Your wood burning stove will be pre-laid and ready to be lit, with a supply of follow on fuel left.
Poppy Cottage No 2: Sleeping up to 5 people in 2 bedrooms, this cosy cottage has undergone a full makeover and now offers cosy accommodation for those visiting Yorkshire. With thick stone farmhouse walls, the cottage has a newly fitted kitchen with dining area; two first floor bedrooms; the main bedroom having twin wooden beds, which can be arranged as a super king bed and a single bedroom with a single bed. The cottage has a large lounge and the pull out sofa bed allows for the cottage to be occupied by up to 5 people. The cottage has stunning views which stretch across the Aire Valley into Skipton looking towards Rombalds Moor with Embsay Crag in the distance. Although Poppy No. 2 is ideal for the family; the garden area is not completely secure for little ones to play unsupervised. The garden/sitting out area is accessed through the stable door, in the lounge, where there is a picnic bench and seating to allow you to sit and admire the stunning views to the front of the cottage.
Both of our holiday homes are cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. Our aim is to provide comfortable and well appointed accommodation that feels like a home from home. You will find that your cottage includes:

A 5 minute walk from our cottages and you will reach the village shop. They supply fresh local produce along with newspapers, wines and beers. The shop is open 7 days a week until 10pm. On those days where you don’t want to cook, you can pop into The Swan Inn, which is close by. They serve evening meals and traditional cuisine.
The pretty village of Carleton-in-Craven, with its babbling brook and packhorse bridge, is a historic mill village, with links back to the cotton and textile industry. Situated on the outskirts of Skipton and adjacent to Carleton Moor; a huge expanse of open moorland, popular for local and long distance walks. Venturing further by car we are just a 10 minute drive into the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park with the villages of Grassington, Settle and Malham (approximately 10 miles away). Bolton Abbey is around 6 miles away and there are easy links and connections to Leeds, Harrogate and York; by train from the station in Skipton or by car. The famous Settle to Carlisle train journey can be caught from Skipton's train station. Heading south we are only 10 miles from Haworth, Worth Valley and Bronte Country.
