Staithes Holiday Cottage offer superb self catering accommodation located in the picturesque village of Staithes near the seaside resort of Saltburn-by-the-Sea in North Yorkshire. The holiday cottage is in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park & on the Cleveland Way. We are great for a family seaside holiday, a romantic break for couples or a base for a walking holiday, making us the perfect holiday destination.

Situated in the heart of the ancient fishing village of Staithes is this warm, welcoming holiday cottage, which offers authentic traditional character with all modern comforts, at a very reasonable price. Sleeps 2 to 6 (plus cot) in quality accommodation. This Grade II listed sandstone building, with exposed oak beams and interesting period features, is a perfect place for a holiday break, whether you are wanting a family seaside holiday, a getaway from it all cottage break with friends, a base for walking on the Cleveland Way, or a couples’ memorable and romantic break in a magical village.

There is a welcoming, heart-of-the-house family kitchen with real oak beams and a unique table made from original sailing ship timbers; a cosy Rayburn stove providing central heating throughout the cottage; traditional food larder; dishwasher, electric cooker, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and all the cookware, cutlery, utensils, crockery and glassware that you’ll need for your stay. There is also a TV and CD player.

The spacious, comfortable lounge comes with beams and exposed stone walls, lots of comfortable seating, window seats, TV, VCR, DVD and stereo. Settle down in front of the wood burning stove or watch the world go by from the half-stable door to the front. There is also a small library of books, DVDs, CDs, videos and family games provided.

There are 3 light and airy bedrooms with a double bed, two twin beds and two comfortable bunk beds. Wardrobes, drawers, reading lamps and bedside tables and are provided. We also have a pretty tiled bathroom with electric shower, washbasin and WC.

If you like nostalgia or maritime history, just follow the old-fashioned cobbled street and alleys or visit the famous Captain Cook & Staithes Heritage Centre which has a life-size street scene of Staithes life in 1745. Find out about the smuggling history of Staithes. Enjoy the ancient fishing “cobles” in the harbour. Staithes can have a Mediterranean look to it, with its jumbled, white-washed cottages and views of the red tiled roofs. You can also discover more fascinating local maritime history at nearby Whitby.

Children often enjoy rockpooling and crabbing in the pools around the sandy beaches or at Staithes harbour. Or you can go fishing or take a boat trip in one of the colourful local fishing craft. Doddil-hunting is very popular and they are easily found along this part of the “Dinosaur Coast”.

There are many beautiful places nearby for great days out. Try a trip to nearby Whitby, Scarborough or Robin Hood’s Bay for a wealth of beautiful beaches, great fish and chips and traditional seaside fun.
