Greystead Old Church in Tarset offers fantastic self catering accommodation. Our glorious conversion of an early 19th Century Grade II Listed former church is perfect for a magical break in the North Tyne Valley. We are near Hexham and a variety of attractions in Northumberland.

Our wonderful property sits adjacent to the owner's Georgian Old Rectory, nestled within a private setting for a tranquil holiday. This architect-designed conversion has an abundance of gorgeous original features, including a fully-restored Victorian stained glass window and colourful tiles, Gothic archway, exposed stonework, flagstone flooring and Georgian panelling.

The house offers luxurious facilities, plus a huge first floor mezzanine open plan living area covering two thirds of the former nave. The well-equipped kitchen comes with central, granite work surfaces and a range of appliances for home cooking, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher,

Our ground-floor east-end sitting room comes with a toasty wood burner for those chilly days, comfy seating, Freesat TV and a fully-restored stained glass window. Both the sitting and dining areas enjoy fabulous views.

The bedrooms and the bathrooms are on the ground floor. One of the bedrooms, formed from the original panelled vestry, houses an original fireplace. Bedrooms consist of 1 king en suite with a shower over bath, 2 king en suite shower rooms and 1 twin.

Outside there is an enclosed garden with furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining, based in a secluded corner of the owners' spacious rectory garden. There’s also a brilliant star-gazing platform in the Old Church garden, offering the perfect place for viewing the area’s renowned 'Dark Skies'.

We are only a short drive from Bellingham, Kielder Water and Observatory, Hadrian's Wall, the Northumberland Heritage Coast, the Scottish Borders and the market town of Hexham. We can also arrange salmon, sea trout and trout fishing on adjacent stretches of the North Tyne. Superb attractions to visit include:
