Ilderton Dod Barns
Details
Ilderton Dod Barns, situated within Northumberland National Park, date back to the 1600s. Accessible by a private farm track, just over a mile up (reachable by car in most conditions), the barns boast 4G mobile phone coverage for modern connectivity. Choose between The Barn or Cuckoo Cottage, both meticulously restored from their origins as stables and a cow byre. Enjoy panoramic views, guaranteed comfort, abundant wildlife and tranquil surroundings, interrupted only by the occasional cuckoo call. Once you arrive, the allure of staying is strong.
Located amidst the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, the barns ensure a getaway free from light pollution, enhancing star-gazing experiences. On clear nights, you might even glimpse the Northern Lights; a Sky Quality Meter recorded an exceptional reading here, affirming its status as one of the park's darkest spots. Binoculars are provided for star viewing, along with a flask for hot drinks and outdoor seating, inviting you to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of the night sky.
