The cottages are set on our traditional, working family farm and are just a short stroll away from two breathtaking beaches, Howdiemont Bay and Sugar Sands.

Curlew Cottage - Sleeps 4

Curlew Cottage is a spacious, detached cottage designed for easy wheelchair access. The open-plan lounge, featuring a log-burning stove and comfortable seating, flows into a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a natural stone patio. The cottage includes two bright bedrooms, one with twin beds, the other with a king-sized bed and a large wet room with underfloor heating, grab rails and an optional shower chair. Outside, a tarmac drive and flagstone ramp provide smooth access, with a path leading around the cottage and a lawn area to enjoy. A utility room offers extra storage space.

Whinney Cottage - Sleeps 4

Whinney Cottage is a spacious, accessible cottage designed for everyone, including wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility. The open-plan lounge, with a log-burning stove, comfortable seating and a reclining chair, flows into a fully-fitted kitchen with a side-opening oven and patio doors leading to a natural stone patio. The cottage features two bright bedrooms: a twin room and an accessible bedroom with a king-sized bed and fitted wardrobes. The large, tiled wet room includes underfloor heating, grab rails and an optional shower chair. Outside, the tarmac parking area extends to a low-threshold entrance for easy wheelchair access.

Howdiemont Cottage - Sleeps 4

Howdiemont Cottage, our most popular, is a spacious and bright cottage with south-facing patio doors leading from the lounge into the garden. The lounge features a charming original fireplace with a log-burning stove, two comfy armchairs, a sofa and a dining area. A fully-fitted kitchen, complete with everything you need, is just off the lounge. The cottage has two large bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other a twin room. The bathroom includes a shower, bath, wash basin, toilet and heated towel rail. Outside, a tarmac parking area provides easy access to this single-level cottage.

Croft Cottage - Sleeps 5

Croft Cottage is a bright and sunny cottage with all bedrooms and lounge windows facing south. The generous entrance hall leads to the bedrooms and bathroom on one side, and the lounge and kitchen on the other. The airy lounge features a log-burning stove in an ingleneuk fireplace, a comfy sofa, two chairs and an oak dining table. Down two steps, the fitted galley kitchen is fully equipped. The cottage has three bedrooms, sleeping five: a master with a king-size bed, a twin room and a third bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom, accessed via two steps, includes a shower over the bath and a heated towel rail. Outside, there’s a private enclosed garden with seating and access to the shared log store.

Rose Cottage - Sleeps 5

Rose Cottage offers a traditional, cosy farm layout with two bedrooms and the kitchen located off the good-sized lounge, which features a charming ingle-neuk fireplace, two sofas and an extending oak dining table. The fitted kitchen includes everything you need, plus a spacious pantry. The cottage has three comfortable bedrooms, sleeping six: a master with a king-size bed, one twin room and another with a double bed. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, basin and toilet. Outside, three steps lead into the cottage, which is all on one level inside.

The Area

Low Steads Holiday Cottages are ideally situated for your Northumberland getaway. With nearby beaches, historic castles, charming coastal villages and market towns to explore, you'll be surrounded by stunning views from the coast to the Cheviots. A short 10-15 minute walk from the cottages, down a picturesque tarmac lane lined with hedges and passing traditional farm buildings, takes you to two beautiful beaches: Howdiemont Bay and Sugar Sands. The path is bordered by fields of wheat, barley, cattle and sheep. Once at the coast, you can access the coastal path, heading north to Howick, Craster, Embleton, and beyond, or south to Boulmer, Alnmouth, Warkworth and further.
