Southlands Farm Cottages in Gunnerton offers superb self catering accommodation. Nestled on our beautiful small holding holiday near Hexham, we are perfect for a tranquil escape to Northumberland.

We have 3 cottages, a converted hay loft and a restored 1940s showman’s wagon to choose from. All the properties can be let together to sleep 16. All of our accommodation can be booked together to sleep 16. The cottages have been tastefully renovated from a traditional Northumbrian sandstone building and retain many original features. Each cottage has a patio area to unwind on when the sun is out. All the cottages include a wood-burning stove, washing machine, Wi-Fi and basket of logs. You are welcome to explore our gardens and pond.

West Cottage

Our 2-bedroom cottage has 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom. Each room comes with an en suite bathroom including a rose-head shower. The cottage has an open plan layout and has exposed original coined stonework. A sitting room has a TV, DVD player and wood burner. The well-equipped kitchen/diner has granite worktops and a range of appliances.

Middle Cottage

We offer accommodation for up to 2 people in a galleried bedroom with exposed beams and an en suite bathroom with a bath/shower. On the ground floor is a sitting area with a TV, DVD player and wood-burning stove. The other side of the room has a kitchen with granite worktops, a gas hob, an oven and fridge.

East Cottage

Our cottage comes with a sitting room area to unwind in after a day sightseeing. Facilities include a wood burner and seating for 6. The well-equipped kitchen comes with granite worktops and an antique pine table seating 6. A spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine floor that has a twin bedroom.

The Hay loft

We offer accommodation for up to 2 people in this renovated hay loft. The open plan space is reached via a stone staircase. Features include high beams and a wood burning stove. The traditional handmade kitchen has with a range of appliances including a gas oven and gas hob. The bedroom comes with a double bed.

The Showmans Wagon

Our converted showman’s wagon offers views across the gardens and fields. Luxury features include a large shower room, crips linen sheets wood burning stove. Original etched glass windows bring in plenty of light. There is a hand-crafted kitchen, double bedroom and a snug which converts to a twin or double.

Whilst staying with us you can visit lots of attractions in the area, including Hadrians Wall, Cradside country home and Bamburgh’s Anglo Saxon castle. You can walk along the long sandy beach at Tynemouth or visit one of the local towns or villages. Attractions to visit include:

Kielder Water and Forest Park.

Wallington Hall.

Hexham Abbey.

Northumberland National Park.

Hexham Racecourse.
