Orkney Caravan Park

Kirkwall, Orkney

Details

Welcome to Orkney’s largest caravan and camping park, located at The Pickaquoy Centre and only a short walk from the town centre. This VisitScotland 4 Star Touring Park has facilities for 80 pitches, of which 28 have electric hookups and hard standings.

In 2009, the facilities were extended with the addition of a new amenities block to enable The Pickaquoy Centre to offer an improved level of service to the customers.

The facilities include a comfortable lounge, fully equipped laundry room, kitchen, baby changing facilities, 12 individual cubicle style shower/toilet/washing units, 4 toilet/washroom units and 1 family/disabled shower/toilet unit. The site is perfect as a base to explore the rest of the Orkney mainland and the surrounding North and South Isles.

Our two luxury camping lodges are the latest addition to our campsite. The St Magnus Lodge can accommodate six people, comprising of three single beds, one bunk bed and one pull out mattress. The Grainbank Lodge can accommodate five people, with the same arrangements (excluding the pull-out mattress). The pods are conveniently located close to the toilets. The doors and windows are double glazed. They come fitted with energy lights, heater, double sockets and a reading lamp, and are also equipped with electric kettle, microwave, fridge, cutlery, cups, bowls and plates – everything to make your holiday very comfortable! Free Wi-Fi is also included.

The Pickaquoy Centre is renowned as being a first-class sports, arts, leisure and conference facility, but is also well known for the huge variety of activities which provide enjoyment for all ages and abilities.

Officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal in April 1999 this £8.5 million facility is Orkney’s largest community and leisure facility to date. It offers an impressive range of leisure based activities: cinema, café, licenced bar, Fitness Zone, Health Zone (spa, steam room and sauna), Jungle World (soft play area), 8-badminton court size Arena and an exercise studio offering a wide range of exercise classes.

The Orkney Islands are truly irresistible. From sandy beaches to towering cliffs, from peaceful lochs to rocky Skerries, the 70 islands that make up our archipelago offer every kind of enchantment.

In Orkney, you’re not only touched by history’s long saga: you can touch it right back. With more ancient monuments per acre than anywhere else in Western Europe, you can get hands on with standing stones, enigmatic brochs, our beautiful Norse cathedral and much more.
