The Highway Inn is a lovely country inn, steeped in history. It can be found in Burford, which is the gateway to the Cotswolds. Our inn provides beautifully appointed guest rooms as well as a friendly bar and popular restaurant. Cheltenham & Oxford are less than an hour’s drive from Burford, as are many popular attractions.

All rooms have been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards, with each room having its own décor and style. They are comfortably furnished with a mix of contemporary and classic pieces. Room amenities include:

We will endeavour to accommodate family groups or parties in adjacent rooms and can provide child beds, cots and dog beds (in our dog-friendly rooms) on request.

We have three dog friendly guest rooms. When checking in for a room stay our four-legged friends will enjoy their own treats bowl in their room. All pets are subject to a £10 per stay surcharge. Our pub’s cosy corners, wooden floors and open fires make the Highway the perfect place to curl up after a long walk, while those holding the lead can have a pint or two. Dogs are allowed in the main bar and courtyard and must be kept on a lead at all times whilst in public areas.

Our bar and restaurant are open to both residents and non-residents. Our passion for using local, artisan and quality suppliers extend to the drinks we offer behind the bar. On tap, you’ll find tip-top ales from Hook Norton Brewery with most ciders and lagers being supplied by Cotswold Brewing Co, all made within a 15-mile radius. Alongside this are a good range of interesting boutique gins, vodkas and malts. From small producers to big name vineyards, by the glass or by the bottle, we’ve carefully paired our wines with the dishes on our food menu.

The restaurant menu, crafted by Head Chef Amanda Edwards, changes regularly and reflects the seasonality of our produce. We aim to offer best local food representing our area, serving up great combinations of simple pub fayre such as pie of the day, fresh fish and chips and some excellent steaks, coupled with some more refined dishes. Our full English breakfast, Sunday roasts and home-made desserts are particularly loved by our guests. Our meat is all free-range and comes from local farms & butchers. Pork comes from Kelmscott Country Pork, Eggs from Mayfield Farm, locally-sourced Cotswold cheese and beef from Aubrey Allen. Our kitchen is completely fresh and treats every ingredient with care. We will endeavour to adapt dishes around any dietary or allergy requirements you may have.

Burford is a historic market town, full of charm, history and surrounded by spectacular scenery. It is a fantastic base for exploring this beautiful part of England and is within comfortable driving distance of Cheltenham and Oxford.
