The Cwtsh at Ffynnon Clun

Goodwick, Pembrokeshire
Sleeps: 1 to 2

Details

The Cwtsh at Ffynnon Clun is a unique barn stay on an ancient Pembrokeshire farm, offering a beautiful self-contained holiday suite surrounded by nature. If you’re craving a true escape from everyday life, The Cwtsh offers fresh sea air, wide open skies and the rugged beauty of a Welsh peninsula. Imagine warming yourself by the woodstove after a day outdoors, with crusty bread still warm from the oven delivered to your door, fresh milk from local Welsh Black cattle and golden gorse glowing in the evening light. This peaceful setting is perfect for unwinding, focusing on creative projects, writing, study or simply resting in a quiet, undisturbed environment.

Designed as a rural retreat for two, the barn forms part of an ancient Pembrokeshire longhouse and has been thoughtfully converted into a stylish, self-contained suite. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable living and dining area with wood stove, a well-equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave and Belfast sink, plus a breakfast patio for outdoor dining. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower and the traditional croglofft loft bedroom adds character and charm. Wide patio doors open onto sunny summer mornings, while thick stone walls and traditional arrow-slit windows create a cosy atmosphere in autumn and winter. A skylight above the loft bedroom offers views of the Milky Way and meteor showers and the area’s exceptionally dark skies make stargazing unforgettable. Guests benefit from WiFi, private parking and fresh spring water on tap, all just five minutes from beaches, cliffs, seals on the shore and dolphins and porpoises in the waves.

The Cwtsh sits within a working smallholding where home-grown food is a speciality. Depending on the length of your stay, your fridge will be stocked for generous breakfasts with eggs, milk, tomatoes, bacon, sausages, cheese, butter and yoghurt. You’ll also find Christine’s homemade bread, muesli, oatcakes, preserves, fruit, herbs and spices, with alternatives available for special dietary needs. Firewood for the stove is sustainably sourced from the farm’s own ancient woodlands, managed by Mike.

While ideal for couples, The Cwtsh can also accommodate families or small groups. A child can be provided with a futon or travel cot and an additional bedroom may be available for a teenager or another couple. In summer, guests can even camp in surrounding fields and woodland, enjoying a back-to-nature experience alongside the comfort and facilities of the barn accommodation.

Visitors are welcome to explore the forestry smallholding, including orchards, woodland, lakes, ponds and scenic viewpoints. Coastal walking routes begin right at the farm gate, and bus services connect you to nearby towns and along the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline. As this is a working farm, practical safety guidance is provided to ensure a relaxed and secure stay.

The area is often praised as one of the world’s finest coastal regions, with easy access to rail connections across Britain and ferries to Ireland. Just five minutes away lies the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, one of Britain’s most breathtaking long-distance walking routes, offering anything from gentle strolls to challenging full-day hikes. Nearby Fishguard and Goodwick provide train links to Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester and London, as well as the Irish ferry terminal. The town of Fishguard is known for its independent bookshops, cafés, galleries, delis, farmers’ markets and the famous Last Invasion Tapestry, along with a lively calendar of music and cultural events throughout the year.
