The Burrow
Built in a traditional style using stone and wood, this off-grid hideaway is full of cosy nooks and crannies and surrounded by stunning views in every direction. Inside, there’s a handmade rustic double bed with linen and towels included, a stargazing window above the bed and a wood-burning stove for warmth and atmosphere. The kitchen area features a double ring gas hob along with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, complemented by bespoke hand-carved wooden sinks. The Burrow includes a shower and a hand-carved wooden wash basin, while a designer eco-friendly compost toilet is located in its own small ‘wee’ howf next door, also with a carved wooden basin. Outside, a fire pit and barbecue offer the perfect setting for evenings under the sky.
Bag End
This charming off-grid hideaway, built in a traditional style from stone and wood, is full of character and tucked into a spot with beautiful views in every direction. Inside, you’ll find a handmade rustic double bed with linens and towels, a stargazing window overhead and a wood-burning stove for cosy nights. The compact kitchen area has a double gas hob, essential cookware and handcrafted wooden sinks. Bag End also includes a slipper bath with hand-held shower and a carved wooden basin, while a separate eco compost toilet sits in its own small hut nearby. A fire pit and barbecue make outdoor evenings easy.
Ash Tree Howf
Ash Tree Howf is a beautiful handcrafted treehouse designed for a cosy escape. Inside, there’s a rustic king-size bed with bedside lighting and a large stargazing window above, a wood-burning stove with a glass door and a compact kitchen with a two-ring gas hob, oven, fridge and all essential cookware. A hot shower and wash basin are built in and a hair dryer is provided in the separate wash area due to limited electricity. The treehouse also features an antique Belfast sink, an eco-friendly compost toilet downstairs and a wood-fired hot tub available for an additional charge. Outside, a stunning viewing platform with sweeping views and a heart-shaped table creates a romantic setting, while steps lead to a private grassy area with a fire pit and barbecue.
Wee Tree Howf
Blending beautifully into the landscape, Bag End feels like a storybook hideaway, with a turf-covered roof, rolling countryside views and handcrafted details throughout. Whisky Howf
The Whisky Howf is a truly unique off-grid glamping retreat, set beside a peaceful lochan at Craighead Howf and surrounded by wildlife and countryside views. Handcrafted in a traditional style from stone, wood and slate, it features a distinctive squint roof and Scottish oak cruck frame that blends beautifully with the landscape. Inside, there’s a quirky rustic king-size oak bed, a wood-burning stove with a large glass door and a well-equipped kitchen area with a double gas hob, oven, fridge and essentials set on bespoke handmade worktops. The accommodation also includes an en-suite compost toilet, shower and basin, a roll-top slipper bath beside the bed and an outdoor fire pit and barbecue for relaxed evenings.
Summer Howf
Set in a tranquil countryside spot, this beautifully renovated summer house is a cosy garden retreat for two, perfect for unwinding in nature. Inside, you’ll find comfortable bedding and towels, a wood-burning stove, a raised bed area with a stargazing window, a two-ring gas camping cooker and all essential cooking and dining utensils, with candles adding to the atmosphere. Outside, there’s a private seating area with a canopy, a picnic space, an open fire pit with an initial wood supply and a private wood-fired hot tub, while binoculars and a bird book invite you to enjoy the wildlife. Guests also have access to a nearby Wash Howf with a hot shower, toilet, washing-up area and fridge/freezer.
The Wash Howf
The Wash Howf is a purpose-built facility designed to provide key amenities for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. Although mainly intended for guests staying in the Summer Howf, all visitors are welcome to use it. Inside, you’ll find a modern shower, a flushing toilet, and a practical kitchen area with a sink, fridge, freezer and microwave. There’s also a hairdryer and full-length mirror for added convenience. For those enjoying the glamping accommodation, the Wash Howf offers an ideal balance between outdoor living and everyday comforts.
The Wee Shop
Wherever you’re staying at Craighead Howfs Glamping, the Wee Shop inside the Wash Howf is a handy honesty shop for picking up essentials without leaving the peace of the site. It stocks everyday basics, fresh eggs from the resident birds, extra wood and charcoal for fire pits or barbecues, and local attraction guides to help plan days out. The shop is cash only and together with the Wash Howf facilities, helps make your glamping stay easy and well supplied.
