Meifod, Powys
Sleeps: 1 to 4

Details

Newbridge Farm Cottages are located on a working farm in Powys, just outside of Meiford and only minutes from a beautiful riverside walk. Our working farm is an ideal place to stay for those who want to escape to the country and enjoy a well deserved rural break. The holiday cottages are set in the picturesque village of Meifod, so they combine spectacular views with the convenience of a small, rural village. Meifod has a country pub, The King’s Head, and a local shop and Post Office. It is also within easy reach of nearby villages Pontrobert and Dolanog, as well as market towns Newtown and Welshpool, which boasts the impressive Powis Castle, a medieval property with gardens preserved by the National Trust.

Vyrnwy Cottage is the larger of our two holiday cottages and is named after the River Vyrnwy, which runs through Newbridge Farm. It has two twin bedrooms plus a double sofa bed in the lounge, so it can sleep up to six and is ideal for families, couples or groups. The holiday cottage’s décor is traditional and comfortable, with light, airy rooms, oak beams and a period fireplace. The lounge is decked out with comfortable sofas, so guests can relax after a busy day exploring the countryside. Vyrnwy Cottage also boasts a log burner, lending the self catering cottage a homely, cosy atmosphere and warming the room on even the coldest winter’s night.

Banwy Cottage is the smaller of our two holiday cottages and is named after the River Banwy, which runs through Newbridge Farm. It has one twin bedroom plus a double sofa bed in the lounge, so it can sleep up to four and is ideal for small families, couples or small groups. Like Vyrnwy Cottage, its décor is warm and comfortable, with the oak beams and period fireplace with a log burner giving the holiday cottage a traditional feel. The rooms are light and airy, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from the windows. Many of our guests spend their days outdoors, exploring the local countryside, so we have created a comfortable, relaxing haven in Banwy Cottage. Big, comfortable sofas in the lounge mean you can spend quality time with friends and loved ones and recharge your batteries before the next day’s big adventure.

Guests staying at the holiday cottages can experience farm life first hand. The site is peaceful, with a tranquillity broken only by the bleating of sheep and lowing of cattle, and a viewing balcony is provided for guests who want to watch the daily milking. The site is also a fisher’s paradise: the rivers Vyrnwy and Banwy, which run through the grounds, are renowned for fishing, with wild river trout, chub and salmon to be caught. Otters are also known to make their home in the rivers, so some eagle-eyed guests may be lucky enough to spot one during their stay. The holiday cottages are also ideally situated for those wishing to explore the local area, with the beautiful Lake Vyrnwy nearby and the market towns of Welshpool and Newtown within easy access. Meifod is also a great base for walkers wishing to walk the famous Glyndwr Way or simply to explore the local countryside on foot.
