Bach & Mawr Cottages, Llanafan-Fawr, Builth Wells, Powys
Bach & Mawr Cottages are nestled on a 200-acre sheep farm at Llanafan-Fawn in Powys. Our cottages are a have for those who want a break away from the hustle and bustle of modern living. We are just a short drive from Builth Wells in Powys and surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery Wales has to offer.
Both of our cottage’s welcome cyclists and walkers, for which Visit Wales has given our accommodation awards for. Each holiday home has been comfortably furnished, to ensure an enjoyable stay is had by all. The beds are ready-made upon arrival and towels (including tea towels) are supplied. There is a sofa bed in the living room of each cottage. A cot and highchair are available on request. They have oil central heating.
Bach sleeps 2 people and is perfect for solo travellers or a couple. The accommodation comprises of a fully equipped kitchen, with electric cooker and hob, spacious dining area leading to a cosy living room with a TV and DVD player downstairs and views across to the hill. Upstairs to a large double bedroom, again with views across the hill and also to a shower room.
Mawr sleeps 3 people and is ideal for couples, friends or a small family. It has a spacious open plan living and dining area, with a high ceiling and beams. There are a few steps up to the fully equipped open plan kitchen. Just up a few further steps to a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a shower room.
Due to the location of the cottages, you will find no mobile signal or Wi-Fi. This proves very popular with our guests, who want a techno-free break to truly relax and unwind.
The local area provides plenty of opportunities for activities such as walking (short local walks or longer routes such as the Wye Valley Walk and Epynt Way), mountain biking, horse riding, bird watching, fishing, playing a round of golf, exploring a museum or taking in the atmosphere in a country pub. A 50-minute drive reaches Hay-on-Wye, a busy market town on the Welsh/English border, full of independent shops and places to eat, which holds its famous literacy festival in late May. The town of Knighton situated on Offa's Dyke is also a 50-minute drive and home to the Spaceguard Centre and Offas Dyke Centre and nearby Presteigne, where the award-winning museum, The Judges Lodging, can be visited. Brecon, Llandovery and the Brecon Beacons national park are also a similar driving time away. In an hour and 15 minutes, Aberystwyth and the coast can be reached.
