Escape to the country! Riverside is a family-run, dog-friendly, 4-acre site which is great for families, couples, and individuals. Rest and relax here, away from the hustle and bustle.
The site is set in stunning location in the gorgeous scenery of rural mid-Wales with the pretty River Irfon running alongside. We’re surrounded by rolling hills, farmland, and woodland. It is a flat and level site with spacious plots and plenty of safe lawns for children to play. Open from Easter/1st April (whichever is earlier) to 31st October. We welcome motorhomes, touring caravans, seasonal caravans, and tents. There are also static caravans for holiday hire, and camping pods – for when you want something a bit easier than a tent!
Take a walk along the river, go paddling or wild swimming, hire a firepit and toast marshmallows. Sit back with a cuppa or something chilled and enjoy the amazing views (including star-gazing in one of the darkest night sky areas in Europe) - or use this beautiful site as a base for walking, cycling, canoeing, birdwatching, and other outdoor activities.
The modern toilet block has hot showers, a laundry room, and under-cover washing-up areas, all of which are cleaned frequently. A large wooden gazebo with seating and electricity is great for sitting in the shade (or sheltering if it rains!). We have children’s games available to borrow and plenty of space to use them – the central lawn is a great play area.
Many of our visitors return year after year to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the site. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you everything Riverside has to offer.
For exploring on foot or on two wheels, Riverside is well-placed for scenic routes to suit all abilities. Take a riverside stroll on local footpaths, longer walks on the Epynt Way or Heart of Wales Trail, or pedal the National Cycle Network - it runs past the site.
Pony trekking, alpaca trekking, golf courses, red kite feeding, Roman Gold Mines, the National Botanical Garden of Wales, wild swimming, the Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons are all an easy drive from Riverside.
Throughout the year there are international-famous events within reach, including the Hay Festival of Literature, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, and the World Bog Snorkelling Championships!
The village of Llangammarch Wells is just a few minutes’ walk up the drive. It has a Post Office/small shop and a pub. There’s also a platform on the scenic single-track Heart of Wales Railway Line which takes you north to Llandrindod Wells (with its boating lake) and Shrewsbury and south to Swansea on the coast.
A regular bus goes from Llangammarch into Builth Wells (8 miles) where there are independent shops, pubs, cafes, take-aways, an indoor swimming pool, and a supermarket.
There is a range of options for eating out, with village pubs, tearooms, cafes, and country house hotels within a short drive. Builth Wells also has a choice of several takeaways.
And if you’d like to relax and be pampered, head along to The Lake Country House Hotel, a mile away, to use their luxurious spa with swimming pool, hot tub, and treatment rooms.
