Sennybridge Shepherds Huts & Glamping

Defynnog, Sennybridge, Powys
Sleeps: 1 to 2

Details

Situated within the Brecon Beacons, Sennybridge Shepherds Huts offer a tranquil and unique retreat. Unlike the standard measurements of pitches in camping and glamping sites, choosing to stay in the Mallard Hut grants you the luxury of expansive space all to yourself. This exclusive spot boasts breathtaking views, direct access to the myriad adventures awaiting in the National Park and a cosy, carefully crafted abode brimming with local charm.

The surrounding field features wild, unmanicured areas with a pond rich in wildlife, a meadow and newly planted fruit trees, creating a perfect contrast to the meticulously maintained hut. This self-sufficient shepherd’s hut is designed for two, featuring a self-catering setup with a full kitchen that includes a two-ring gas stove, oven and a fridge with a freezer compartment. Off-grid living is made comfortable with solar and wind-powered amenities such as lighting, a TV, WiFi, and USB charging ports, despite the absence of traditional plug sockets. The outdoor deck offers views of the Brecon Beacons and a secluded, wood-fired hot tub available for use with purchased firewood.

Exploration beyond the hut is equally enchanting. A scenic back road leads to local amenities in Sennybridge or Defynnog, where shops, cafes, and pubs can be found. For those seeking fresh, organic produce, Penpont and Aberbran Fawr offer farm-fresh goods, with the latter also providing a chance to meet Diane at her day job in the farm shop. The location is an ideal starting point for picnics, whether by the Monmouth and Brecon Canal or atop Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. Yet, perhaps the most idyllic picnic spot lies right in your own private field within the National Park.

Our area is home to breathtaking natural caves and landscapes, along with beautiful gardens, serene waterways, majestic castles, insightful museums and historical industrial mines that showcase our rich cultural heritage. Visitors can explore a variety of attractions, including adventure farms where you can meet animals, wander through tranquil country parks and savorr the finest local produce.
