Nannerth Country Holidays
Details
Nannerth Country Holidays is on a traditional 200-acre Welsh hill farm, set in the peaceful Wye Valley, Mid Wales. With the spectacular hills of the Elan Valley behind, tranquil pastures in front and bordered by the River Wye, this spot is a haven for birds and wildlife. Here, conservation and farming work together to create a stunning environment which at the same time is a real working farm. Our self catering farm cottages are an integral part of the family business and we enjoy welcoming guests to this beautiful place.
The Granary – Self Catering Cottage with hot tub - sleeps up to 4 people plus a cot: A converted granary, this cosy cottage is in the old farmyard complex of original stone and slate buildings around a courtyard. It retains the stone and timberwork of the original construction and has been renovated with polished board floors, a wood burner and a mix of period and modern furniture. It is centrally heated and has a wood burner for cosy evenings in. The sunny south facing deck with private hot tub is perfect for relaxing. Eat outdoors overlooking the beautiful hay meadows and frisky goats as they play, or stargaze from the hot tub at night. 4* graded with Visit Wales
The Loft – Self Catering Apartment – sleeps 2 people plus a cot: The Loft is in the top part of Nannerth Fawr farmhouse and has been converted as a comfortable and private self-contained apartment all on one level overlooking the Wye Valley. The south facing Velux balcony window offers magnificent views of the landscape and is ideal for watching red kites and other raptors. There is central heating and a roof garden. 4* graded with Visit Wales
The Tollant – Self Catering Barn Conversion with hot tub – sleeps 6/7 people plus a cot: The Tollant is a wonderful three bedroomed self catering barn conversion. The apartment has a view south across the Wye valley and a sheltered roof garden extending from the dining room area. A former hayloft, this conversion has created an airy single storey property with ash flooring and ash doors made from local timber. Great for extended families or small groups the Tollant has a sunny deck with hot tub just below. 4* graded with Visit Wales.
Standard equipment includes Freesat TV, radio, full size cooker and hob, microwave, fridge with freezing compartment or separate freezer, dishwasher, iron and vacuum cleaner. The farm is a tranquil place to stay and ideal for those whose priority is rest and relaxation. Each cottage has a garden area with outdoor furniture, ideal for reading and eating al fresco. Barbecues are available. We also have an outdoor play area with a castle and playhouse for younger children. The games room has table tennis, pool and table football. You can watch lambing live and also you can badger watch in the evening just a few minutes from your cottage in our treehouse hide. There is also fishing available onsite and plenty of animals to meet.
With 200 acres to explore, there are many activities to enjoy on the farm or close by. There are plenty of walks and trails on the farm, you can enjoy a delightful short stroll through meadows, by the river or along the lane. A longer ‘figure of eight’ walk will take you on a marked path through all the diverse environments on the farm, through ancient woodlands, on to the high hills above the farm, to the wetlands, along the river and back across hay meadows and pastures. It is easy to access the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust reserve at Glilfach, just across the river and the road.
You can cycle through parts of the farm either on steep mountain bike tracks or along the lane, which is part of the national Lôn Las cycle route 8. The walks and the cycle track will take you out onto the open common on the hills behind the farm. From here there are spectacular long distance walks such as the ‘Monks Trod’ and ‘Byway Clifford’ as well as many public rights of way across the wild moorland of the Elan Valley. There are undercover places to store your bikes.
