The Border Hotel
Details
Dating back to 1750, The Border Hotel captivates discerning travellers with its traditional thatched roof and striking frontage at the head of the village green. Rich in history, the hotel's welcoming ambiance draws visitors into its bar, where a fine selection of beverages can be enjoyed by the roaring open fire. The tempting menu, crafted by our chefs using local produce, offers freshly prepared dishes to satisfy hungry travellers.
The hotel features six comfortable en suite rooms, each named after local hills, walks and rivers:
- St. Cuthbert: A spacious 2-bedroom suite.
- Pennine: Overlooks the green and includes a small lounge area with a sofa bed.
- Cheviot and Tweed: Cosy rooms that can be arranged as doubles or twins.
- Bowmont and Teviot: Available as doubles, offering a warm and welcoming stay.
Each room at The Border Hotel offers a range of amenities, including ensuite facilities, tea and coffee making supplies, a hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and both bath and shower options. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and daily housekeeping service. Free parking is available and dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £10 per dog.
We are dedicated to serving genuine home-cooked meals using locally sourced produce whenever possible. Our menu changes with the seasons and features ingredients often sourced from farms in the Scottish Borders, including eggs, vegetables, meat and cereals. Guests can dine in the bar, sharing stories with the locals, or in the Fisherman’s Room and the conservatory. During the summer months, our spacious outdoor garden area provides a pleasant dining experience, with tables set up under the gazebo for shade.
Kirk Yetholm is best known as a centre for walkers. The Pennine Way Long Distance Footpath ends at the Border Hotel, a mere 268 miles north of its southern terminus in Edale, Derbyshire. Kirk Yetholm has also become a feature on the St. Cuthbert's Way, a 62 mile walk following in the footsteps of St. Cuthbert from Melrose to Lindisfarne.
