A short drive from Melrose, situated under the canopy of trees near the mythical Eildon Hills in the Scottish Borders, Roulotte Retreat offers a serene escape from everyday life.

Avril and Alan, the creators of Roulotte Retreat, embody a Bohemian spirit, marked by a love for adventure, travel and a vibrant approach to life.

Our collection of French roulottes: Devanna, Karlotta, Gitana, Maharani, Shivanni, Zenaya and the Dutch Roulotte (in Dutch woonwagen), Rosa Bella, are artfully positioned around wildlife ponds in our wildflower meadow, providing a unique and stylish sanctuary. Over 15 years of passion has shaped Roulotte Retreat into a vibrant circle of individually themed roulottes, each offering a distinct experience. Additionally, Ruby, a 1930's Bowtop Gypsy caravan, resides in the woodland garden of Horseshoe Cottage, adorned with quirky interiors.

For group get-togethers and dining, guests can hire 'The Studio', whilst staying at Roulotte Retreat, or perhaps enjoy an outdoor yoga session, participate in a creative group workshop or get married! All roulottes are exclusive to adults only, however guests with children are welcome in Horseshoe Cottage.

Each roulotte has its own unique charm:

- Devanna features a cosy salon with a chaise and woodburner, a luxurious original-style bed and a modern shower room. It also offers a private hot tub for an additional fee.

- Karlotta offers a cosy setting with a wood burning stove and views ideal for birdwatching.

- Gitana captivates with its butterfly windows and includes a stunning Indian copper tub for outdoor soaking, available for an extra charge.

- Maharani indulges guests with its luxurious interior, complete with silk sari curtains and a private wood-fired eco sauna, available for an additional fee.

- Zenaya dazzles with vibrant decor and offers an exclusive outdoor copper tub for an additional fee.

- Shivanni impresses with Himalayan-inspired decor and modern amenities, perfect for a romantic getaway.

- Rosa Bella with room for 2-4 guests charms with its Bohemian style, including a kitchen and an outdoor dining area.

Horseshoe Cottage & Ruby provide a family-friendly option with a private garden and an outdoor wood-fired eco sauna (for an additional fee), enhancing the tranquil experience.

Our retreat is a haven for those seeking a unique and restorative getaway.

Up to two dogs are welcome in the cottage but not in Ruby Bowtop. Rosa Bella also welcomes one well behaved dog. £10 per dog per day. Please advise when booking if you are bringing a dog. It is important to know that dogs must be kept on leads whilst at Roulotte Retreat as we have free roaming chickens and goose. There are excellent walks nearby through woodlands, up the Eildon Hills, by the River Tweed as well as St Cuthbert's Way, Borders Abbeys Way, Southern Upland Way, and more.
