Midfield Croft & Askalong, Bardister, Ollaberry, Shetland Island
We have three houses which offer modern facilities in a scenic part of the north mainland of Shetland. They are situated within a working croft with clear views of GlussVoe - the videos below help give a flavour of the area.
Midfield is the original croft house which has clear views over Gluss Voe to the north and the rest of Gluss to the west. It has been fully modernised, can sleep five people and has a four star STB rating.
Askalong is a more recent chalet which can also sleep five people and has up to date facilities all on one level. It is situated a little distance to the south of the croft house and has a three star STB rating.
Blythoid is a traditional croft house in Ollaberry which has fine views of Yell Sound but is not Scottish Tourist Board rated.
Midfield Croft: Midfield croft dates back to the 19th century and is still a working croft today. The croft has cattle, sheep and sheepdogs and a range of buildings just to the west of the croft house. The croft overlooks Gluss Voe to the north. There are nearby walks which highlight the variety of geology and wildlife in the north mainland of Shetland. Midfield croft is a modernised croft house which sleeps five people with bedrooms on the first floor and living accommodation on the ground floor.
The living room has a cast iron fire with a traditional fireplace. There is twin sofa seating plus Sky TV and a DVD player. Part of the living room provides a dining area with seating for four. It also has a pine dresser and patio doors with access to the garden at the rear.
The kitchen has a fan assisted oven with an electric hob and a fan extractor hood, a dishwasher, a fridge, a microwave and ample cupboard storage. All crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided.
The traditional porch entrance houses the freezer, washing machine and telephone.
Bedroom 1 is a double bedroom with a traditional fireplace, a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2 is a twin bedroom with a traditional fireplace, a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 3 is a single bedroom with a single wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The bathroom has a toilet, bidet and corner bath with a shower above the bath.
Askalong : Askalong is a modern chalet which is situated nearby the croft house and also sleeps five people but with all accommodation on the one level. It also has one bedroom with ensuite facilities.
The kitchen has a cooker with fan assisted oven, an extractor hood, a microwave, a fridge freezer, a dishwasher and washing machine. All cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are included.
The front of the living room has an armchair and two sofas one of which is a bed setee. There is a fireplace with an electric fiare, Sky TV, DVD player and CD/Radio unit. There are also views of Gluss Voe. The rear part of the living room has a dining table, five chairs and a pine dresser. There are double glazed patio doors for access to the garden at the rear.
Bedroom 1 is a double bedroom with an ensuite shower and toilet. There room also has a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2 is a double bedroom with a built in wardrobe and small chests of drawers.
Bedroom 3 is a single bedroom with a single wardrobe and chests of drawers.
Blythoid: Blythoid Accommodation comprises a double bedroom, sitting room, kitchen with dining room and two bathrooms - one with shower and another with a bath. Facilities include a cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine and dryer and TV. There is a bed settee in the sitting room allowing sleeping accommodation for up to four people.
