The 11th-century castle and St Laurence’s parish church are particularly noteworthy. The town is home to numerous independently-owned shops, galleries, pubs, and restaurants, offering ample opportunities to explore its charming nooks and crannies. Poet John Betjeman once described Ludlow as "the most beautiful town in England."
