Cartref Camping & Caravan Site
Details
Hidden in the rolling Shropshire countryside yet only six miles from the medieval market town of Shrewsbury, Cartref lives up to its Welsh name for “home”: it’s a calm, adults-only haven that welcomes tourers, motorhomes, campervans, tents and glampers all year round.
Each pitch rate includes two adults and space for either a caravan or tent with one car, or for a single motorhome or campervan and also includes a 16-amp electric hook-up, the first 7 kWh per night are bundled in, with extra electricity available to buy if needed, there is also a mains water supply and grey-water drainage point.
An award-winning heated amenities block offers individual showers and private wash cubicles (we have won the Loo of the Year Award), there’s free Wi-Fi across the park and the reception shop stocks essentials and local produce. Our cosy coffee shop and bar greets guests with a friendly welcome and offers an inviting spread of refreshments: local ales and beers from Three Tuns and Wrexham Lager, a curated range of gins and wines, plus all the familiar favourites. Those after something softer can relax with proper tea or barista coffee paired with a slice of freshly baked cake. An independent team now runs the on-site kitchen, serving a seasonal menu of takeaway dishes you can savour either in the bar or back at your pitch.
For something different, Sybil, a lovingly restored 1937 vintage caravan, sits in her own secluded spot and comes with Basil, a converted horse-box en-suite shower room, complete with under-floor heating, Bluetooth speakers and fluffy robes. Inside Sybil you’ll find a double bed dressed in crisp linens and a kitchenette kitted out with a Nespresso machine, Dualit appliances, fridge and combi-microwave, making it an indulgent two-night-minimum escape for couples.
The site is ideally located less than three miles from Rowton Castle, perfect for wedding guests and just a short drive from the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
