The Green Caravan & Camping Park

Bishop's Castle, Shropshire

Details

The Green Caravan Park is a family-run caravan and camping site located in South Shropshire, situated in the picturesque Onny Valley between the Long Mynd and Stiperstones Hills, within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Spanning 15 acres, the park is a peaceful and tranquil retreat.

The site is sheltered and level, with the small, shallow River East Onny meandering through it. Children love paddling and fishing in the river, as well as enjoying the play area equipped with a climbing frame, wobbly bridge and swings.

Camping at The Green Caravan Park offers a variety of pitches, including Two small Dingles, The Plateau, The School Hut, The Play Area Field and a large five-acre meadow called The Rally Field. Many pitches are located adjacent to the river. Both camping and caravanning are welcome on our electric hook-up pitches, with forty-four in a separate field, fifteen riverside pitches and five hard standings for motor-homes. The Island now features 10 electric pitches, half of which are riverside and designated for tents or small camper vans.

Facilities include a shower block (unheated) with hot showers (20p), flush toilets, hot water at all hand basins, hair dryers, an electric shaver point, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, an ice-block freezer and a washing-up sink. A chemical disposal point is also available.

A well-stocked village shop is conveniently located just across the road, complementing the small on-site shop (limited opening in low season).

Part of the park is dedicated to a wild, unmanaged area, showcasing nature at its finest. This habitat, teeming with diverse plant and animal life, is situated at the end of the Rally Field and features a majestic oak tree.

The Green Caravan Park is dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs on leads (except in the exercise area). Dog waste bins are provided, along with a dog walk and an exercise area.

The surrounding South Shropshire area, with its quiet country lanes and scenic hills, is perfect for walking enthusiasts who can enjoy spotting a variety of birdlife. Nearby, three country inns offer delicious home-cooked food and traditional ales. The Inn on the Green, a family pub at the park entrance, is known for its recommended Sunday lunch. Just up the hill is the dog-friendly Crown Inn, famous for its delectable pies (booking advisable). Both pubs provide free Wi-Fi. The Bridges, a riverside pub, is a short drive away.

Please see our website for how to find us through avoiding the tricky lanes.
