Stepps House is a beautifully renovated, thatched 17th-century former farmhouse offering charming accommodation for couples, families, or friends. Located in the heart of a quiet South Somerset village, it is conveniently close to the M5 and A303. The farmhouse features two luxury cottages, one sleeping four guests and the other sleeping two, providing a comfortable and welcoming base for your stay.
Bramley Cottage - Sleeps 2
This is a charming thatched cottage full of character, with original flagstone floors, beams and oak-studded doors. Cosy and comfortable, it features a beamed lounge with dining area, an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burning stove and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. The dual-aspect living room includes a sofa, armchairs and a 32″ flatscreen TV. Upstairs, the romantic bedroom has a French-style king-sized bed with luxurious bedding and an en-suite cloakroom, while the ground-floor bathroom offers a walk-in rain-head shower. Outside, a fully enclosed, sunny courtyard is perfect for relaxing with coffee while keeping pets safe and there is a parking space for one car.
Courtyard Cottage - Sleeps 4
This is a luxury, Grade II listed thatched cottage offering beautiful interiors for the perfect countryside escape. It features a modern open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with limestone floors, character details, comfortable sofas and a 42″ flatscreen TV. The well-equipped kitchen includes a large central island, electric two-oven Aga, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge-freezer and washer-drier. Two front doors open onto a spacious, sheltered, enclosed courtyard with an outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining or morning coffee. Upstairs, there are two inviting bedrooms with deep mattresses, 400-thread-count cotton bedding and fluffy pillows, one with a French-style king-sized bed, the other configurable as a superking or twin. The first-floor bathroom features a large walk-in rain-head shower.
Visiting the Area
Situated in the heart of Broadway, a quiet village surrounded by fields and woods, this location offers easy access to local country lanes and footpaths perfect for walking and cycling. Nearby, you'll find several welcoming pubs, including The Bell Inn in Broadway and The Five Dials at Horton, both just a few minutes’ walk away, with other excellent options a little further afield and well worth a visit.
Local attractions include the stunning Jurassic Coast with its famous towns of Lyme Regis and Charmouth, the historic lace-making centre of Honiton and National Trust gem Montacute House. Visitors can also explore Forde Abbey, dramatic Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole caves and the scenic Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Other highlights include the Yeovilton Air Museum, the county town of Taunton just 8 miles away and Exmoor National Park only 10 miles further on.
