The Helyar Arms, a Grade II listed 15th-century inn, exudes character and charm in the picturesque village of East Coker. Surrounded by mellow stone and thatch cottages, historic almshouses, Coker Court, and St. Michael’s Church, the village offers a rich sense of history. Visitors can see the resting place of T.S. Eliot and explore the birthplace of the famed explorer William Dampier.

Our charming and comfortable rooms are located on the first floor of the pub and offer private access outside our licensing hours. Each room is thoughtfully named after local places and features double or king-size beds made with crisp cotton sheets and fluffy duvets. All rooms are equipped with en-suite showers, tea and coffee-making facilities, flat-screen TVs and WiFi for your convenience.

We have six rooms available at competitive rates. Breakfast can be added for £15 per person, with a surcharge for triple occupancy and an additional £10 fee for guests with dogs. In the morning, guests can enjoy a delightful breakfast that includes a cereal buffet with yogurt and fresh berries, as well as a cooked selection featuring chipolata sausages, smoked back bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs prepared to your liking. Vegetarian options are also available.

What could be better on a summer’s day than relaxing in our pub garden with a pint and a selection from our lunchtime menu? Committed to supporting local farmers and suppliers whenever possible, we craft a menu that combines pub classics with fine dining options. Our dishes are seasonal, ensuring a menu that evolves regularly to showcase the freshest ingredients. The bar serves a wide selection of ciders, including cloudy, sweet, dry and or even flavoured bottled ciders. A selection of real ales and an extensive wine list are also available.
