Balvenie Castle - Near Dufftown is a striking fortification and dates to the 1200's. Close inspection presents the visitor with a unique account of life many hundreds of years ago when the powerful Comyn earls ruled in Glenfiddich.
Walking The Speyside Way is the longest walking route in Scotland and was first opened in 1981, The route now links the Moray coast with the edge of the Grampian Mountains, generally following the valley of the River Spey. The Speyside Way Ranger Service, based in Aberlour, covers all of the route and is managed by the Moray Council on behalf of the Access Authorities responsible.
Fishing The River Spey is probably the most famous salmon river in the World. The Spey rises in the Monadhliath mountains to the south of Loch Ness and flows 100 miles northwards to enter the Moray Firth at Spey bay. In its lower course, downstream of Grantown, it is a fast flowing river, providing miles of perfect, and highly sought after, fly fishing water.
Dufftown Golf Club is an 18 hole course set amongst the most breathtaking scenery in Speyside, the heart of the malt whisky country. Visitors return regularly to enjoy golf in this beautiful Banffshire setting where two of the holes (7th & 10th) feature in "Britain's 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes" by Geoff Harvey and Vanessa Strowger.
