The Old Inn
Details
On the edge of Loch Gairloch, with the dramatic landscapes of Wester-Ross all around, this area is a haven for anyone who loves natural beauty and outdoor adventure. From The Old Inn, a short walk leads to sweeping sandy beaches like Redpoint, where the horizon opens to Raasay, Skye and the Western Isles and where sunsets over the Minch are truly unforgettable. The rugged shoreline is perfect for exploring and with a little luck, whales and seals can often be seen offshore. Looking north, the scenery rises into the striking volcanic peaks of Assynt, creating a backdrop that is both wild and breathtaking.
At The Old Inn, there is a proud tradition of showcasing a fine selection of Scottish malts and gins. Being based on the west coast also allows access to some of the finest sustainably caught seafood, delivered fresh from the local harbour. Langoustines, lobster, mussels, and scallops are just some of the highlights. Whether stopping by for a light lunch or staying for a weekend of walking and exploration, the team is committed to providing warm hospitality and making every visit memorable.
The inn offers a variety of comfortable rooms, each thoughtfully equipped to ensure a pleasant stay. Guests can expect non-smoking accommodation with en suite facilities, flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making amenities, central heating and heated towel rails. Daily housekeeping, king-sized beds, fresh linens and bottled water are standard, with cots available on request. Ironing facilities are also provided when needed, ensuring every detail is taken care of for a relaxing stay.
The village of Gairloch and its surroundings offer a taste of everything that makes the Highlands so special. The Gairloch Museum presents the rich local history of the area. To the east, hills and mountains rise around Loch Maree, leading on to the vast wilderness of Fisherfield Forest. Behind The Old Inn, the views stretch towards the peaks of the Flowerdale and Shieldaig Forests and even capture a striking rear view of Beinn Alligin, the most westerly of the mighty Torridon range.
