Airidh an Dobhrain
Details
Airidh an Dobhrian is perfectly situated midway between Eriskay to the south and Berneray to the north, offering an ideal base for exploring the entire island chain. Though remote and secluded, it remains conveniently close to a supermarket and a selection of excellent hotels serving delicious meals.
Entry to the property is via the sheltered front door, leading into a hallway with a bathroom on the left and the main accommodation to the right. A spacious storage cupboard sits directly ahead. The heart of the cottage is a large, welcoming kitchen-living room, complete with a fully equipped modern kitchen featuring an electric induction hob, electric oven, built-in fridge, integrated dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and all necessary cookware, cutlery and crockery.
The living area, with its solid oak flooring, offers a comfortable double Harris Tweed sofa that converts into a sofabed and provides breathtaking views over the loch through double-glazed windows. Entertainment options include a TV with DVD player, satellite box, Bluetooth speaker, WiFi throughout and a selection of books and DVDs. A panel heater and multifuel stove ensure warmth and comfort, and binoculars are available for guests to borrow.
The bedroom features a luxurious four-poster bed draped in light fabric, with dual-aspect windows offering beautiful views to the east and west. Ample storage is provided by a pine wardrobe and bedside cabinets and bed linen and towels are included. The bathroom boasts a superb walk-in shower with both overhead and handheld shower heads for a refreshing start to the day.
Overlooking the peaceful Loch Kilerivagh, the cottage is a haven for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts, with opportunities to spot a variety of birds and even otters. The surrounding gravel garden includes a herb boat for guests to pick fresh herbs and practical amenities such as a 3kW EV charger (type 2 socket, charges apply), a utility room with washing machine, sink, dehumidifier, wet clothes drying area, cycle storage and gated access to the headland and shoreline.
The area is the perfect location for walking and boating. There are many sites on North Uist that give us an insight into the history of this land such as:
