Carloway Self Catering

Carloway, Isle of Lewis, Western Isles
Sleeps: 1 to 6

Details

Set in the peaceful crofting village of Carloway on the Atlantic west coast of the Isle of Lewis, these charming rural cottages offer a scenic and relaxing escape. With breathtaking views stretching across the Uig and Harris hills to the south, the vast Atlantic Ocean to the west and open croft land right outside the door, the location is as inspiring as it is tranquil. Both cottages provide comfortable, pet-friendly self-catering accommodation, making them an ideal base for discovering the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Lewis and Harris.

An Taigh Clach

An Taigh Clach was originally built as a traditional croft house in the early 1900s and later served as an agricultural barn. Today, it has been thoughtfully renovated and extended to create a warm and welcoming cottage with an open-plan family living area, complete with a multi-fuel stove, TV and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage comfortably sleeps four guests in one double and one twin bedroom, both compact but cosy, nestled within the thick stone walls. Outside, there is ample off-road parking, a fenced garden and an adjacent utility shed ideal for storing bicycles, drying wet weather or surfing gear and more. A decked area offers the perfect spot to unwind while taking in sweeping Atlantic views, stunning sunsets and even the occasional glimpse of the aurora borealis.

5A Upper Carloway

The ground floor of the property features a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, complete with patio doors that open onto a decked outdoor seating space. This area includes a barbecue and a wood-fired hot tub, all enclosed with privacy fencing for a truly relaxing experience. The living room also has patio doors leading to the garden and a second decked seating area, along with a cosy log burner for cooler evenings. The master bedroom is conveniently located next to a family bathroom with both a bath and separate shower and there's also a utility room and an additional WC on this level. Upstairs, you'll find a double bedroom, a twin room and a peaceful seating nook at the top of the stairs, ideal for reading or unwinding. Just next door, the garage has been transformed into a leisure space, offering an infra-red sauna, pool table, dart board, sofa, widescreen TV and a drinks chiller, perfect for both fun and relaxation.
