Further to the Prime Minister's announcement of the lockdown exit strategy, Step Two allows one household to stay at a cottage or holiday let from 12 April 2021. Some weekly bookings are still available at Cliff Cottage at various times throughout 2021 and we look forward to being able to welcome visitors back to our special place in Lyme.
We have the Visit England 'We're Good to Go' Industry Standard award which means that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a Risk Assessment and thorough cleaning protocols in place.

Part of Lyme's historic landscape since the early 1800's, Cliff Cottage is one of the delightful pink cottages, set back off the seafront, in a perfect position overlooking the beautiful Bay and famous Cobb. Seconds away from the beach, the cottage also has easy access to the shops, galleries, cafés and pubs.
The cottage and gardens are set into the hillside with steps leading from the upper level of Marine Parade up to the front door and steps in the front garden leading to the terrace where visitors can wine and dine whilst enjoying the superb view of Lyme Bay. Garden furniture, an Outback BBQ and children’s beach toys are provided. The Rose Family have been sharing their treasured seaside ‘home from home’ with couples and families since 1994. All bookings are dealt with personally by Sue Rose and every effort is made to make sure that everything in the cottage is right for you.
Cliff Cottage provides a comfortable and competitively priced base for visitors of all ages wishing to explore the World Heritage Coast, fossil hunt, paint, write, walk, cycle and tour out of season as well as those seeking a traditional British seaside holiday. See the Cobb each morning without getting out of bed. Watch the world go by from the terrace. No hassle getting to the beach with children and everything but the kitchen sink - it’s less than a minute away. Even the garden walls smile at Cliff Cottage - you will see why if you book!
As you go through the front door you enter the living room, a bright, cosy room overlooking the front garden. It has a two seater sofa, two armchairs, a nest of tables, a bookcase, smart TV and a Blu-ray player. Paintings and photographs of Lyme decorate the walls.
The kitchen is well-equipped for visitors who prefer to dine at ‘home’ rather than in one of Lyme’s many excellent restaurants. The kitchen window overlooks the rose garden at the back of the cottage. It has a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, gas hob and built in integrated electric oven/grill. Under cupboard lighting and dimmable ceiling lights can be as soft or as bright as required. There is a table with four dining chairs.
Coat hooks, washing machine, tumble drier, ironing board, iron and high chair are stored in this room just off the kitchen with the back door leading out to the rose garden where there is a washing line.
The original resurfaced roll top bath has a grab rail and electric shower. There is also a grab rail next to the toilet, a sink, shaving point, mirror, wall mounted thermostatically controlled heater, a heated towel rail and electric extractor fan.
This room’s great attraction is ‘the view’! With the shutters and windows open you can enjoy the sounds of the sea and look at the picturesque Cobb without moving from the double bed (4’6” antique pine) with drawers. Other furnishings include a pine dressing table with mirror and stool, a built in wardrobe, chair and a full length mirror.
Overlooking the rose garden, this room has two single 3’ beds with drawers, a pine dressing table with mirror and stool and a built in wardrobe with a selection of children’s toys. There are bookshelves with a selection of books for children and adults and two bedside lamps.
*Bedding & Linen*
Linen is provided and beds are made up for the number of visitors staying. All beds have mattress and pillow protectors and for the foreseeable future these and all bedding and pillows will be washed and rotated at each changeover.
*Safety & Mobility Considerations*
There are steps leading up to the property with handrails fitted and lighting that comes on automatically as you approach. Grab rails are fitted in the porch and bathroom to help those who have mobility concerns. Once in the property all rooms are on one level. There are uneven steps leading up to the terrace. Mains powered smoke and heat detectors are installed at the property and gas safety and PAT electrical tests are carried out annually.
A high performance, low energy, user friendly heating system means that the cottage is warm and cosy throughout the year with radiators in the living room, kitchen and both bedrooms. A freestanding electric fireplace heater has been added to the lounge, more to give a focal point with a flame effect, than because it is needed for heating. There is a heated towel rail and thermostatically controlled heater in the bathroom. The windows and doors are double-glazed throughout.
Acquiring the Visit England Industry Standard mark "We're Good to Go" means that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness in the property with the appropriate disinfecting products. Arrival time will now be 5pm to allow for the extra cleaning and disinfecting required. Cleaning materials provided for guests.

Parking: Cars may be driven along and parked on the lower level of the Parade for unloading and loading purposes only. There are two Long Stay car parks in Lyme (Charmouth Road & Holmbush) with plenty of spaces and it is possible to pay for more than one day at a time. From April 2021 the daily rate is £8.00 (24hrs) Download the JustPark App and register your vehicle and bank card for easy payment on arrival (no additional charges) or pay at one of the machines.
Cliff Cottage is open all year round, including Christmas and New Year. Weekly rates in 2021 from £550- £1,225.00. Watch out for our Special Offers of 5 nights for the price of 4 out of season.
All prices include gas, electricity, bed linen and towels for use in the cottage only – own towels to be taken for use on the beach. We also provide instant coffee, tea bags, washing powder, fabric conditioner, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, one toilet roll, washing up liquid and cleaning equipment at no extra charge

Weekly bookings: Out of season there can be some flexibility on weekly start dates, so if it would suit you to take your week's holiday starting on a day other than Friday or Saturday, please contact Sue and she will see what can be done. Short Breaks of 4 days or more are also possible out of season subject to availability.
Conditions of hire: These have been updated to include COVID-19 considerations and are sent out with booking information or on request. Payment: 30% deposit at the time of booking with the balance due one month before the holiday start date unless there is less than a month at the time of booking in which case the total is payable to secure the reservation.
